As provided in the Official UKC Breed Standard, the colour of the Perro de Presa Canario may be "FAWN, BLACK, AND BRINDLE in any combination of these colors. The face must have a black or dark brown mask that does not extend over the eyes, with or without a white blaze or patch on the head. Minimal white markings may appear anywhere between the chest and the throat, or on the toes."
For certainty, BLUE is not a colour seen in the true presa canario. Variations in size, muzzle, eyes, and body may evidence an even greater departure from the presa canario, when weighed together, and compared to the accepted standard.
As well, it is strongly recommended that buyers gain great familiarity with what it means to own a dog with such a strong working heritage, and look beyond catchy ads that preach "rare breed" and "super high drive" and "powerful" while of course being "good tempered" and "good with other dogs" at the same time. The true Perro de Presa Canario, consistent with the breed standard, is a powerfully constructed dog, courageous, and wary of strangers.
