1949 Plymouth Special Deluxe Cab Coupe

Up for sale is a 1949 Plymouth Special Deluxe Club Coupe. The car has a flat head 6 cyl. engine that is still wired under the original 6 volt system. The car has a 3 speed manual transmission on the column and roughly 91,000 original miles on it. The color is a dark blue with blue interior. The interior of the car still has the correct and original wood grain dashboard and matching pattern around all of the interior windows. The car has been restored to its original state.

The only replacements/ additions we have done to this vehicle are: NOS rear tail lights and center stop light, NOS interior truck light, new tires, new antenna, NOS Plymouth letters, new chrome visors for the headlights, NOS glass front parking lights, NOS chrome trim for the front parking lights, and NOS interior clock.

As far as maintenance goes we have flushed the coolant system, and had the car inspected by our mechanic. No major issues were found. The engine is strong and the car drives really nicely.

Included in the sale are service manuals for the P-18 model (this car), several 1949 advertisements, the original owner?s manual, multiple sets of keys cut on MOPAR 1949 era key blanks, and one set of gold dealer keys and a key chain that would have come with the car when sold new in 1949.

Features on this car include, automatic choke (first year for Chrysler), clock, AM radio (sounds beautiful!!!), trunk light, locking chrome gas cap (original), vacuum powered one speed wipers, windshield visor, factor blinds in rear window, wood grain dash and interior accents, two speed heater fan and defroster controls, white steering wheel with gold Plymouth emblem, full gauge sets (all work), interior dome light, locking glove box, seat belts, door/ truck key keyed the same (and work), and ignition light.

We got this car on auction and picked it up in Wyoming. The history of the car as told to us is that it was purchased new in Montana. The first owner drove it for about 20 years and then parked it in a barn. The car sat there for roughly 25 years and went to rot. In the early to mid 90?s the car was bought by a Montana local who restored the vehicle to its factory condition and then sold it at an auction. The buyer (the one I bought it from) had it for about 12 years and then sold it to me. During that time the guy put about 5,000 miles on it and mainly used the vehicle for shows and parades. Since we have owned the car it has always been garage kept and only used for show and parades.

Last year we took the car on a road rip across Colorado. The car went from Grand Junction to Denver on only one tank of gas! The gas tank is roughly 16 gallons (I think). The car was able to handle one of the nation?s highest mountain passes (I-70). The pass is 11,000 feet in elevation and the car was able to make it. Many newer cars have trouble making this pass. This car is in great shape for its age. It is 59 years old and still drives very nicely. I get a lot of compliments everywhere I take it. It will turn a lot of heads. I loved this car and you will too. Don?t let this opportunity pass you by.
