Seeking part of full time person as special education tutor/OT assistant for several learning challenged children. Prefer someone with initiative, patience, and skill in teaching/tutorin in 1st-8th grade. Music background (singing) helpful. Will tutor in math, reading, spelling, and writing. Must be detail oriented, orderly, and seek excellence out of children. Must be able to demonstrate and assist children in step-by-step instruction in math, have a thorough knowledge of phonetics, and ability to teach writing in a detailed, sequential, explicit way. Will use Writing Road to Reading (Spalding/Riggs or a Barton or Wilson Reading approach), Institute in Excellence for Writing, and Saxon Math, along with several computer programs. Possible on-site housing. Children range in age from 6-15. One has aspergers/dyslexia/ADD (age 14), another ADHD/Dyslexia (age 12), another ADD/Dyslexia (age 10), and another is hypersensitive to sounds (poss aspergers, age 8). In addition, there is a six year old who is reading near 2nd grade level.
