Description:

Looking for someone to love me !!!!!!

Hello I'm Pearl, a 6 year old American Staffordshire Terrier

I got my new name when I left that horrible cell at the pound to start my new life. My name comes from the circumstances I came from. I was left like any other piece of sand (dirt) and now that I'm free of my shell (cell) I have become a magnificent pearl!

I was just a fun family dog living on a farm when one day my master brought me for a car ride to a scary place. He said that my family was moving to town and never came back. When my owner walked me in I was on a harness leash. When they worked with me at the shelter, they used a gentle leader. I love to go for walks and use my muscles since I've been locked up.

I had lived on a farm my whole life and was very good with the other animals. The family I lived with had two kids. One was 2 and the other 5 months. I treated them like my own being very gentle.

I lived indoors and outdoors. But I most definitely prefer the indoor life. I don't jump on furniture, I'm potty trained, I know the commands sit, come, leave it, and down. But trust the rumors are false: you can teach an old dog tricks.

My rep from MARS came to get me because I had become extremely depressed at the shelter. That place will really bring you down.

I stopped eating! In a month I lost over 10 pounds. I could hear the staff at the shelter talking about how my time was almost up! I hoped that someone would rescue me so that I wouldn't have to live my last days in this terrible place. Then, they came for me only two days before I was going to be put to sleep.

I have never been happier to feel the wind on my muzzle as we pulled away in the car. I laid out in the sun for hours feeling its heat and the grass on my belly I forgot all about that cold concrete floor I had slept on for way to long.

I know that there are those cute puppies that are hard to pass up but I've still got spunk in me and I don't need all the work that the puppy would need.

Note from my rep:
Please consider this gift of adopting an older dog after all the love and joy she gave her family they left her to die! The last touch of a human being would have been death. Now it can be a wonderful kiss on the nose. Exactly what she needs, deserves and wants.
