Why AKC??
I am amazed to see non AKC'd pups selling for hundreds or 1000's of dollars!! If having a registered dog is not important to you, please check your local dog rescue. There are so many dogs that are looking for someone to love them!!! A lot of them look just like the "purebred" chihuahuas advertised on this website!! AKC registration cannot guarentee health or quality of a pup, however they require DNA profiles of all breeding dogs. When you purchase an AKC registered dog You Know Who Your Puppies Parents Are! AKC papers are very important. They set your dog apart, acknowledging its special status as a purebred dog. When you register your new puppy, AKC will send you a certificate that preserves your dog's heritage. When you are filling out the Registration papers, you will be able to pick out a unique name for your new puppy that no other purebred dog registered with the AKC can have. It will be your puppies name only!! Isn't that exciting enough to make you want to register them? Even though it may not currently be in your plans, you may find that sooner or later you may want to participate in one of the many events or services the AKC has to offer. To participate, your dog must be AKC registered. AKC also provides you with many resources and materials.
Don't be fooled by the other dog registries out there.
They will register anything with a tail, provided you pay their fees
