Do not be fooled into paying stud fees of $ 600,$700,even $ 800,or more . No matter how great the pedigree is .Just because You pay $ 800.00 for a stud fee does not mean You get better puppies . So what if You $ 800.00 for a stud fee then get a litter of all pet puppies ? You can find many AKC,and Int. champions at or very close to $ 500.00 these are champion males that have all health testing done. Just email a few breeders with champion studs,and find out for Yourself I know of at least 3 breeders with champions at stud at a very reasonable $ 500.00 .You see ads on this site all the time for stud service for $ 700/$800 ,or cash,and pick of litter,or 2,and even 3 puppies . Why would U pay that when You can breed to a health tested ,proven, champion for less ? Good breeders are not trying to make money off stud fees this is why the fee for a nice champion stud is often no more then $ 500.00 .Some of the things You will hear are this is the last of the line from this sire,ect this is not true remeber that dog had litter mates,and so did His sire,and dam .,or well You have to pay $ 1,800- $3,000 just to get a puppy from this line,or well I need XX amount of cash + pick of litter,or 2 puppies,or even 3 because Your females has poor lines,but they will then tell You that they sell puppies for $ 1,000++ each ,and You will be able to get that for Yours too . Tell Me why then do those breeders not just take pick of litter ?Ask Yourself these questions .If so n so line is worth so much money then wouldn't they want a puppy from that line ? If that lines is worth so much when they do take a puppy why do they need 2,or even 3 puppies if that lines is worth so much they would cover the stud fee with 1 puppy ? If they want $ 750.00 for a stud fee,but then turn around to tell You well You will get at least $1,000 for Your puppies each why would they need 2,or 3 puppies to cover the stud fee that is like You just paid 2-3 stud fees for one breeding .Some breeders do not want to take puppies ,but that does not mean they need to rip people off on fees. Never pay more then $ 300.00 cash ,or pick of litter ( 1 puppy ,not 2/3) for stud service on any male that is not a champion . If You do You are paying to much just look around You will find champion studs at a much better price,and will not get ripped off. These breeders are usually very easy to work with,and know far more about breeding then puppymillers,greeders,and bybs Yes You want to breed to a nice male with good breeding,but do not let someone take advantage of You just because of the pedigree.
For those breeders who feel it is necessary to send emails telling Me about how much Your dog is worth ,what You paid for Him,or how rare the bloodline is save it You only further prove My point if You think Your dog is worth so much then why do You need to tell Me He is ?
