I have a 16 gb 3G iPhone, upgraded to the new 3.0 like the 3Gs, only difference is it doesn't have video or voice connect, but there are apps for that. I'll leave all the apps on the phone, which is a full 10 pages, and I paid for most of them. Just put in your sims card and use. No extra 2 year contract.
