Doctor selling one of his "Toys", a 1966 Mustang Fastback Restomod.

Body-off restoration by Chuck Francis (Dream Machines of America in L.A.- http://www.fordmustangs.org/) one of the West Coasts oldest and most respected Mustang restoration shops. Chuck has been working on Mustangs for over 40 years and restores Mustangs for the meticulous "Hollywood" clientele. He is also well-known for building racing motorcycles for two decades so he knows how to put together a hi-performance engine. This one took 12 months to get just right as the previous owner spared no expense to make it perfect. Less than 1000 miles on the restoration; it still has that "new car" smell and looks better than new on the outside. Its striking beauty, coupled with the gurgle giving way to an enjoyable, throaty roar as one accelerates, turns almost every head attached to a male body when this Restomod Fastback makes an appearance.

Under the hood is a balanced and blueprinted Ford Racing 302 with all the necessary internals, roller-rocker cam, JE Forged Pistons, etc.; Trick Flow Aluminum heads and high rise intake manifold, MSD 6AL Ignition, Distributor, Holley 0-4779C carburetor, Northern aluminum radiator, custom headers into 2.5" exhaust and Flowmasters, mated to a 4 speed transmission, "boxed" front suspension with new springs all around, slotted and drilled disc brakes, 17" Torque Thrust D series 2 wheels, "Red top" battery, etc.

Dyno tuned to more than 350hp on pump gas. The body is covered with impeccable German Glassa Ford Blue with white stripes. (The only imperfection is where the seat belt buckle hit the door sill-see picture) Interior is white with white "Mustang" seats.

When I first got the car about 2 years ago, an individual in Vancouver who knew the car and its pedigree offered me $80,000 CDN (about $70,000 US, then) but since I had not had a chance to enjoy it, I turned him down. Barrett-Jackson has sold a few similar Mustang Fastback Restomods recently, one for $60,000 another for $63,000 and a third for $85,000.

It has been a very enjoyable car to own, but it is time to pass it on to someone else who can enjoy both driving it and its ongoing appreciation.
