message bmk about this ad Due to a few cancellations on our waitlist, we have some puppies available from our newest litter. Shikoku ken are a rare, primitive hunting spitz from Japan. Anyone who's ever been interested in shiba, akita, elkhounds, chows, huskies, etc. may want to check these guys out. Puppies will be raised on Puppy Culture, dewormed, chipped, and vaccinated before leaving with health certificates from the vet as well as AKC registration. Shikoku are a solidly medium-sized breed averaging 30-40lbs for females and 40-50lbs for males. They have a somewhat course, wash and wear double coat - no intense grooming outside seasonal coat blows, and shedding between coat blows is fairly minimal. Like many of the other breeds mentioned, shikoku tend to range from aloof (meaning neutrally indifferent NOT terrified, stranger reactive, etc to quietly friendly with strangers. These are NOT labs and should not be expected to act like them. They will not love every person they meet but they are not, and should never be stranger/human aggressive. On the flip side shikoku are incredibly loving and affectionate with their people. They are medium energy and medium drive with a natural offswitch so settle very well in the home but are ready for adventures as soon as you are making them an excellent hiking and camping companion. They're surprisingly biddable for an independent spitz and generally enjoy working or training with their owners. All interested parties will be required to fill out a waitlist application to help determine if the breed is a good fit. Puppies are placed based on temperament, owners don't choose which one they get. Lastly, if anyone has ever wanted to get into dog showing or sports, I am more than happy to mentor you! Sire is: MBIS UCH Kokuoumaru Go Miyako Tachibana En CA CM RACEN TKN VSWB And Dam is: BIS UCH Himetsuruichimonji Go Miyako Tachibana En CGC CM DCAT RATN SPOT TKN Both are fully health tested through OFA and searchable by their registered names. Results are also posted on my website - Aoiyama Sou Shikoku Please understand that this is a rare breed and the price is reflective of the time and effort that goes into importing quality dogs, titling in multiple venues, health testing, and raising healthy, well-socialized puppies. message bmk about this ad |
