message themotherofcavaliers about this ad BEWARE! This woman, Sara Keck, LIED TO MY FACE about her dogs. Sara is a bad backyard breeder who will tell you anything to get you to buy a puppy from her. She told me that she follows MVD breeding protocol. She doesnt. Said she does OFA healthy testing. She doesnt. Said she took her dogs to be checked by a veterinary cardiologist in Wisconsin. She didnt. Crazy woman chased me down in Meijer while I was trying to pick up a few groceries with my service dog (who happens to be a Cavalier) shouting like a lunatic. When I tried to ignore her and walk away, she pulled her cart in front of mine and turned it to the side to block me. I tried to walk away from her multiple times (my family had recently lost one of our Cavaliers to various genetic health issues due to poor breeding practices, so I wasnt really in the mood to talk to a bad backyard breeder, which I told her several times when I tried to get away from her) and she literally blocked the aisle, turned her cart sideways and would not let me past. Eventually, I had to actually turn around and leave the aisle in the way I had come in because she WOULD NOT let me pass her and then I came back later to get the groceries I needed. Sara lied to me repeatedly about her breeding program (i.e. Her exploitation of a breed I care about to make money) while her toddler threw cheese around the store and shrieked. I explained to Sara about the numerous genetic health issues of the breed, pointing out that they have so many health problems that Norway has outlawed breeding them. She continued to lie about her dogs, finally admitting she knew so little about the health pedigrees of her breeding dogs that she wasnt even sure what, if any, health testing was done on which parents of the dogs or if they are even still alive. Make sure you get documentation about anything she says to you, because she will lie right to your face to get you to buy one of her puppies. I have had two Cavaliers die in my arms. One died of Syringomyelia (SM) before he was two years old. The other died of Mitral Valve Disease (MVD I learned about the breeds health issues the hard way. Keeping them alive cost me a small fortune and losing them both young absolutely broke my heart. This backyard breeder is just looking to make a quick buck and doesnt know much about Cavaliers and, honestly, doesnt care about the health or longevity of the dogs she is producing. Google dry eye/curly coat, episodic falling, hip dysplasia, luxating patellas, Mitral Valve Disease, and Syringomyelia. Know that if you purchase a puppy from this woman, it is going to have one or several of those conditions. Make sure you get health insurance for your puppy, because it is going to be expensive to keep it alive and it will probably die young. Caveat Emptor. I would like to note that I am a prosecuting attorney. Truth is an absolute defense to defamation and everything I have said here is 100% true. If Ms. Keck would like to attempt legal action, I would welcome it. Stop trying to use these dogs to make a quick buck, Sara. Stop lying to people. You know nothing about the breed, nothing about your pedigrees, you arent following MVD breeding protocol or SM breeding protocol. You are producing puppies that will break peoples hearts and likely suffer and die young. JUST STOP. Spay and neuter your dogs. Find a way to make money that doesnt involve exploiting animals. Worth noting here is that Ms. Keck insists no one that has purchased a puppy from her as ever returned on. Unless what she told me was another lie, she told me that this was the first litter of Cavaliers she has ever produced. If you are considering purchasing a puppy from her, make sure you see documentation of familial health history, because you cannot trust a word she says. Cavalier puppies from health tested puppies range in price from $2,500 to $5,000 (breeders who do MRIs charge more for puppies because MRIs are very expensive $800 is puppy mill pricing, which is essentially what this woman is; a small scale puppy mill. Cavaliers are wonderful dogs with horrific genetic health problems. The Cavalier breed was recreated in 1928 from two brothers (Anns Son and his brother, Wizbang Timothy) which were then bred to an assortment of females (mostly crosses between English Toy Spaniels and Papillons Every single living Cavalier can be traced back to one or both of these dogs. This lack of genetic diversity means that breeders of Cavaliers have to be OBSESSIVELY careful with their breeding programs to consistently produce healthy puppies. Preservation breeders DO NOT make money on their puppies. If you are breeding to produce healthy puppies and better the breed, the health testing and quality care for the dogs is expensive. The breeders I know who are trying to save this breed lose money on every litter they produce. Any breeder who is breeding to make money is NOT going to consistently produce healthy dogs. If you would like to know more about Cavaliers (including why it is genetically impossible for the merle Cavalier Ms. Keck owns to be purebred I am happy to talk dogs any time. Feel free to send me a message. I have owned Cavaliers for quite a long time now and have unfortunately, lost a number of them to genetic diseases, which cause the dogs to suffer horribly and has also broken my heart. Honestly, her puppies are overpriced. You can get a puppy from non-health tested parents and unknown pedigrees for less than $500 or less. The quality there would be the same. The problem with that isnt that your dog wouldnt be show quality. The problem is that your odds of having absolutely horrific health problems skyrocket when you are dealing with a person whose ONLY interest in breeding is how much money she can make. message themotherofcavaliers about this ad |
