message pawsitivityk9 about this ad Meet Kay-Kay -sorry about the book of a post Kay is a six year old female red tri standard size Australian Shepherd. I inquired Kay about a year ago now and I was going to add her to my breeding program I have since decided she isn't going to work out. Kay is looking for a very patient owner as she will need a lot of 1:1 training and a quiet household to do so in. Kay is extremely shy and sensitive. A raised voice, a slam of a door, lots of commotion ect and she goes into flight mode. This dog does not have a mean bone in her body but her hide and seek game is very strong. Kennel trained and loves her kennel she will lay in it with the door open on a blanket chewing a bone all day. No food aggression with humans or other dogs and very food motivated. She will chase our barn cats but is easy to recall back to me. Gets along with other dogs male and female. Leash trained but like I stated above she is super flighty if scared she will back out of whatever you have her on if you are not careful. For this reason I want her to go to a home with a fenced yard. I have a pack of Dogs and if out with the pack she will fall all the way in the back of the line and will try to avoid people at all costs. Im not sure why she is the way she is honestly and before it gets asked No I dont believe she was abused I assume she just never got socialized and found comfort in the pack of dogs she grew up with. In our home we have two small children (2.5&1yr) and two older children (19.5&15yrs) myself and my S/O. Kay is finally to where she will come up to me and let me give her affection, put a leash on her and recall back to me outside. She is fine with the smaller children as long as the 2yr old isnt running wild screaming and banging on toys but he usually is so when this occurs I usually let her go into the dog room to her kennel for her nerves and for my sons safety. I dont believe that she would bite but if she was cornered well anything is possible I suppose. My oldest son she hasn't warmed up to or my S/O however they dont do a whole lot with the dogs. I'm putting feelers out for the right home for Kay where she can be in a small pack maybe 2 or 3 other dogs at most and a single house hold or one without small children for her nerves. As mentioned above a fenced yard for sure. Someone that can read all that is written above and understand this dog isn't going to be a quick easy fit into the family dog and is going to take time maybe lots of it. I have a very busy life with small children, working full time, a multi sport high school child, a breeding program and a pack of Dogs. So maybe someone that has a less busy lifestyle can accomplish more with her in a shorter time than I have I think I may be looking for a needle in a haystack for a home for her but I believe its out there somewhere and until then she is fine being here with us. I just want her to be happy and thrive in a home. After the holidays she will be going in to get fixed. She will leave with a clean bill of health, current HW test and prevention, UTD on shots and wormings and come with her records, a 30lb bag of food, leash and blanket. With how special Kays situation is I would prefer to bring her to her new home so that nothing happens during transport and I know she is safe! If you made it this far thanks for reading!
