Need to rehome my four year old long haired German shepherd Koda Bear
He has a few issues that I'm hoping with the right family will get better. He is dog reactive and has gotten a little better after being neutered and put on medication. He has trouble settling sometimes and will pace and whine, but I believe with someone more active this will get better.
He has a very clingy personality and wants to follow you everywhere. He is super sweet, smart, and loyal.
He does ok with cats, but will chase them because he wants to play. He currently lives with cats and other dogs but I'm not sure how he would do with new dogs. He does seem to do better around smaller dogs. But prefer he be the only dog in the home unless you have experience with reactive dogs. He likes to play but can be pushy and rough which other dogs may not like.
He is super smart and knows sit, down, paw, other paw, stay, middle, and has started dock diving lessons which he does great in! He isn't really treat motivated but is VERY toy motivated. Loves to play fetch. He absolutely loves the water and swimming. I also purchased a weight pull harness for him that he is used to wearing, but hasn't pulled any weight with it yet. He likes to go on hikes, and I usually walk him at quieter parks where I know there won't be a lot of foot traffic. He is crate and house trained, he will circle by the door when he wants to go out.
Due to personal and financial reasons, I feel like he would do better in a home that is able to be more active with him and willing to do more sports and training with him. My living situation has changed and I feel like I am not the right fit for him anymore, and his mental health has taken a toll because of it. I am not able to walk him as much due to health issues, and would prefer he go to someone with an active lifestyle that's willing to try sports with him.
I'm not in a rush to rehome him as I want to find the best possible home for him. There is a small rehoming fee to help ensure he goes to a good home. He is already neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all his vaccines including heartworm and flea and tick medications. He is heartworm negative. He will come with his crate, food, collar, leash, harness, toys, medications, bowls, and enrichment items.
