message mrshpgmxfnl about this ad Im putting together a waiting list for a litter of Golden Pyrenees puppies expected around late 2024 to early 2025; this third generation pairing is the culmination of my lifes work and produces the best dogs Ive ever produced in 13 years, but sadly I had a great deal of trouble connecting with good people for my last litter and cared for two of them for over a full year before one found her people and the other became a semi permanent member of the family. So before I even consider breeding another litter I need to collect at least 20-30 committed contacts to have ready (as stuff happens and people back out or change their mind all the time Once puppies are born Ill start contacting those on the waiting list to set up a date and time to meet the babies and their parents and choose their new family member! Meetings start around 6 weeks of age (as theyre pretty much just fluffy little potatoes before then) and are welcome anytime after that.My babies are born and raised in my home and are loved, held, and cuddled from their first breath; they receive ENS from 4 to 16 days of age, their first vaccine and vet check at 7 weeks, and are dewormed every 2 weeks starting at 4 weeks of age. Each puppy is microchipped before going home. They begin outside potty training at around 5 weeks old and are reliably going outside to potty by 8-10 weeks and some even start asking! I skip the newspaper/litter training phase altogether which gives them a huge headstart as they quickly learn that outside and ONLY outside is for potty; no in-between = no confusion. My Golden Pyrenees are both ideal family dogs and excellent guard dogs being somewhat suspicious of strangers but friendlier than the Great Pyrenees with no fear whatsoever. They are very good with kids and cats and can be good with livestock when given basic training. Their coats are a wonderful combination of both parent breeds, but better; water repellent and mud and dirt just falls off once dry. They rarely need to be bathed and dont require any sort of trimming beyond sanitary and foot fur; they should NEVER be shaved unless medically necessary as shaving ruins the coat and makes it difficult for them to thermoregulate (sunlight reflects off of it which helps keep them from overheating Shaving also significantly increases shedding and destroys its water wicking properties making it impossible for them to stay clean. Weight varies from one individual to another but you can generally expect them to be over 100lbs at full maturity, which isnt reached until 3 years of age for females and 4-5 years old for males. These dogs love water, love to dig, love to play, and will roam without a fenced yard. They love to bark but can be trained to bark less and even very little; consistency is key. I discourage barking early on but its up to you to continue their training; Im available 24/7 for guidance and mentoring for the entirety of the dogs life. These are extremely healthy and hardy dogs who can be expected to live into their early to mid teens when kept lean and active throughout their lives; however theyre very easy keepers and can put on excess weight easily; they require much less food than other dogs their size, especially when altered - many do well on 1-2 cups of decent quality dry food per day when mature. Golden Pyrenees are highly intelligent and do best when provided with a "job" such as pulling a cart or sled or carrying a pack; they make superb sled dogs, therapy dogs, emotional support dogs, and personal protection dogs; no one is laying an ill intentioned hand on you with a Golden Pyrenees by your side. They bond quickly and strongly with their people and want to be wherever you are; they need to be with their family and cannot be outdoor/kennel dogs. They are loving, affectionate, and devoted companions. Im available 24/7 for consultation at 231-670-3291; if I dont pick up or see your message right away, its probably because theres a dog laying on my phone, so just keep calling message mrshpgmxfnl about this ad |
